Deco LED Solar Fairy Lights need sunlight to ensure they work properly. This guide will help you position the Deco LED Solar Panel properly.
WHERE DO I PLACE THE SOLAR PANEL?
First things first – where NOT to put it. Solar Fairy Lights will commonly be used to dress trees but DON’T put the panel under the tree!
Find a location away from the tree, preferably on a fence of a raised location to mount the panel. Avoid shade and place the panel anywhere where it can get full all-day sun. Pick the best spot in your back yard for sunbathing and try to mount the Solar Panel as close to that spot as possible.
ORIENTATION
The orientation of the Solar Panel will make a difference to the level of charge the batteries receive each day.
In general, face the panel toward True North. This means as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, your solar panel will receive the most sunlight possible throughout the day.
PITCH
The best tilt angles for your solar panel depends on where you live in New Zealand. Dunedin and Invercargill, for example, need a steeper tilt than Whangarei and Auckland.
Generally, the best orientation is around 30 degrees tilt from horizontal in the summer, and 50 to 60 degrees in the winter (when the sun is lower in the sky). Dull and overcast days will reduce the amount of charge the Solar Panel can deliver to the batteries.
